Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A rigorous approach for modal analysis of two-dimensional photonic crystal waveguides consisting a circular rods is proposed. The mode propagation constants and the eigenmode fields can be accurately obtained by a simpler matrix calculus, using the one-dimensional lattice sums, the T-matrix of an isolated circular cylinder, and the generalized reflection and transmission matrices for a multilayered system. Numerical examples of the dispersion characteristics and field distributions are presented for several lowest TE modes in symmetric waveguides with a rectangular lattice of air-holes in a dielectric substrate.
