Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The development of the Raman amplifier-based optical network system is at an advanced stage, and there is a possibility that high-power optical signals will be transmitted through optical fiber cable. The high-power characteristics of the PC-type fiber-optic connector are investigated systematically. We clarified that a connector with a low insertion loss of below 0.25 dB suppressed the undesirable temperature increase to less than 10 degrees with an optical input of 1 W, and appropriate ferrule endface cleaning prevented endface damage.
