Abstract(in English) | Generation of supercontinuum (SC) in optical fibers is very attractive for large-capacity optical communication system since SC can produce short optical pulses over a broad spectral range more than a few hundred nm. It is well known that a high-quality and broad SC spectrum is generated due to adiabatic compression of soliton pulse in an optical fiber with a dispersion-flattened and dispersion-decreasing characteristic. In this paper, we demonstrate numerical analysis of spectral and temporal evolution of SC optical pulses and clarified the mechanism producing SC generation in such a dispersion varying optical fiber. The experimental verification of SC spectrum is followed by the analysis. Recently, ultra-broad supercontinuum spectrum has been reported in a short piece of conventional telecommunication fiber that was tapered since the tapered fiber possesses a dispersion-varying feature along the fiber length. The broadened SC spectrum was discussed numerically based on a split-step Fourier method. |
