Abstract(in English) For realizing next generation 40-Gbit/s WDM transmission systems, we study a low cost long-haul terrestrial system using a standard single mode fiber (SMF) which is already installed worldwide and an NRZ modulation scheme whose transmitter is simple and small. However the degradation of optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR) due to the large loss of dispersion compensation fiber for SMF with large chromatic dispersion, and the waveform degradation due to non-liner effect become serious technical issues. In this paper, we designed a low noise repeater node with two-stage Raman amplifier whose amplification media were DCFs, and optimized dispersion map. We demonstrated the SMF transmission of over 1,600km for 43-Gbit/s x 40 channel signals in the NRZ modulation scheme.
