Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a novel, all-optical, multi-channel limiter that uses spectrally filtered optical solitons. The periodic nonlinear optical fiber described herein can suppress the inter-channel interaction caused by four-wave mixing. By applying this all-optical multi-channel limiter to a 40 Gbit/s x 4 channel wavelength division multiplexing signal, minimum received optical powers at the bit-error-rate of 10-9 were improved by more than 2 dB in all channels.
