Abstract(in English) A new polarization maintaining optical fiber with photonic crystal cladding was presented. The fiber loss and polarization crosstalk at 1.55 μm were 1.3 dB/km and -22 dB, respectively. Wavelength dependence of modal birefringence, polarization mode dispersion, group velocity dispersion were experimentally and theoretically investigated. Finary, a 10 Gbit/s, bi-directional polarization division multiplexed transmission was demonstrated with a 1.5 km-long fiber.
