Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A latency, defined as the time elapse between the beginning of data transmission and the retrieval of the transmitted data by a receiver, is very important performance index similar to data rate and quality in mobile communication systems. In this paper, we discuss a system design concept to reduce the latency while minimising the performance degradation. To do so, we first define a "transitional state" and "stable state." The transitional state is the state that the data is receiving. So it is impossible for the receiver to start processing until all the data is received to be ready. The stable state is the state that actual process is carried out. We reduce the latency by a processing during the transitional state. Unfortunately, such output can not avoid the quality degradation. We will then discuss how to minimise the degradation by an introduction of differential source coding. We will show that when the autocorrelation function of input data is high, the degradation by the reduction of latency can be minimised.
