Performance of a Feedback-Type Adaptive Array Antenna for Two-Frequency duplex Communications : with mobile station decision feedback equalizer

Abstract(in English) In the cellular mobile communication systems, co-channel interference, fading and ISI (Intersymbols Interference) degrade the transmission performance. Adaptive array antenna (AAA) can suppress interference and, at the same time, can cope with mulipath fading by using a wide antenna element spacing resulting in low correlation of recived signals in each antenna element. A feed-back type AAA was propsoed for FDD (frequency division duplexed) systems, where mobile staions measure channel characteristic and send back them to the base station. When signals are subjected to frequency selective fading, the AAA system cannot cope well with performance degradation due to ISI. In order to cope with this problem, we extend the system by introducing decision feedback equalizer at mibile station. We assume a realistic propagation model and study the influence of antenna element spacing at the base station and of delay time on bit error rate performance.
