Abstract(in English) | This paper presents an overview and recent trends of ultra wide band (UWB) radio technology. UWB technology has been paid much attention as a promising candidate for very high-rate short-range wireless communication network. Since the Federal COmmunication COmmission (FCC) issued a First Report and Order that authorizes the commercial use of the UWB technology in February 2002, research and development (R&D) activities are under way in many wireless industries and research institutes. The UWB is an attractive radio technique for communications, radar and sensors, while it is a controversial technology because mutual interference to the existing wireless communication systems is unavoidable. This paper reviews some modulation technique for UWB communications. Regulation and R&D trends on UWB technology are also introduced. |
