Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Region Of Interest (ROI) coding supported in JPEG2000 is one of region oriented coding similar to object based coding adopted to MEPG4. It is a coding system which divides a image into some regions and is coded for each region. In conventional study on ROI coding, ROI has been considered on an assumption that ROI is coded as lossless coding. Also, in ROI coding, the numbers of division of a image are generally two ROI and non-ROI. In this report, we study a ROI subband coding that the information rate or image quality between ROI and nonROI can be contrable. ROI can be considered as both lossy and lossless coding, furthermore, control of an information rate or image quality among more than two regions is enabled.
