Color conversion method for multi primary display

Abstract(in English) Wide gamut color displays are needed for high fedility color reproduction. High luminance and wide chromatic color displays are implemented by using four or more primary colors. However, while using four or more primary colors, the color conversion from CIE-XYZ tristimulus values to color signals have different solutions. So, we proposed a color conversion method for converting CIE-XYZ tristimulus data to color signals for multi primary display. In this method, we use Linear Programming for color conversions. This program includes a Linearized function of power consumption and conversion function for converting color signals to CIE-XYZ values that are used as objective functions and constraints, respectively. In this way, we get a solution that minimizes power consumptions for light emittive type display. And for practical application, we propose a Linear Programing method that can perform gammut mapping and color conversion simultaneously. We measured luminance of some LEDs and our proposed method. As a result, we obtained a ratio of minimum to maximum power consumption to be 0.52. Moreover, we confirmed the accurate color reproduction by gammut mapping while converting the colors of an image that includes out-of-gamut data.
