Improvement in reproducibility of bluish-green Ce^<3+> luminescence characteristics by H_2O supply in SrS:Ce thin film electroluminescent devices

Abstract(in English) SrS:Ce transparent thin film electroluminescent (EL) devices have been prepared by electron beam evaporation method. Ce^<3+> luminescence is easily changed by deposition methods and conditions. In this study, we made efforts to reproduce bluish-green Ce^<3+> luminescence. It has been found that a reproducibility of a bluish-green Ce^<3+> luminescence has been improved by an intentional H_2O supply. The saturated y value of the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) color coordinates can be stably obtained in the range of 0.35-0.37 by maintaining the QMS ion current of H_2O above 0.5nA during the deposition. A luminance of 550cd/m^2 is achieved for a transparent SrS:Ce device under 1kHz driving.
