Abstract(in English) | High quality, light weight reflective color LCD with low power consumption are important devices for highly functional information terminals. In this paper, we numerically analyzed the relationship between the electro-optical properties and the birefringence dispersion of the retardation film; △n_R(λ) in a single-polarizer reflective TN-LCD with a retardation film to confirm the possibility of reducing power consumption. We found that the LCD exhibit a NW mode and/or NB mode achromatic image with a high luminous reflectance and a high contrast ratio, even if the on-voltage of the TFT-LCD was reduced to 2V, when the △n_R(λ) was optimized. |
