Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To date, companies all over the world have released a huge number of games incorporating state-of-the-art computer technologies. Recent computer-based game machines, which have evolved through several stages of technical innovation, constitute what may be called a brand-new interactive medium. We produced a commercially viable version of a multi-view autostereoscopic display system that uses a lenticular array and a high-resolution color LCD panel. Such displays are expected to be particularly effective in the multimedia environment that will be provided by next-generation game machines and mobile communications terminals. This article discusses the effectiveness of our autostereoscopic display in terms of both the hardware and the software, taking account of the design of the final 3D image contents.
