Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Fundamental study of the high gain EBG resonator antenna is presented. An investigation of the VSWR, the actual gain and the aperture efficiency are performed with changing the dimensions of patch antenna and dielectric superstrates (ε_r=11.2). As a result, the relative gain for a patch antenna of less than 10dB is obtained for 1-layer case, and 2-layer dielectric superstrates are required to obtain the gain greater than 15dBi. It is also observed that the gain for 1-layer and 2-layer cases is small for a compact EBG resonator antenna. Furtheremore, it is found that the maximum aparture efficiency is obtained with selecting the size of superstrate to be a half wavelength obtained by the propagation constant along the radial direction of the EBG resonator.
