Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to determine the actual transmission performance of the UWB (Ultra Wide Band) radio transmission systems, it is important to evaluate the practical propagation characteristics including the effects of scattering objects placed in the vicinity of the transmitting and receiving antennas, such as human hands. While there are several studies on the transmission performance under the ideal antenna and propagation conditions, the variation of the frequency characteristics of the propagation channel caused by the human body has been receiving the minor emphasis. In this paper, the waveform distortion caused by the non-uniform frequency characteristics of antennas and propagation channels will be evaluated experimentally. Also, the effects of the human body shadowing in terms of the transmission characteristics measured by the BERs(Bit Error Rate) for several conditions will be presented in order to assess the basic effects of human hand shadowing for the UWB systems.
