Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An Ultra Wideband-Impulse Radio (UWB-IR) has recently attracted much attention as one of the technology of high speed radio communications [1]. Since the UWB-IR system repeats and transmits pulses for each bit, the UWB-IR system is considered as a coded scheme with the simple repetition block code. We have already proposed the Internally Turbo-coded UWB-IR (ITC-UWB-IR) system where a Turbo code (the code rate 1/3, 1/2) is employed with a repetition block code [2]. In this paper, we evaluate the error rate performance of the ITC-UWB-IR system that adopts the low rate Turbo codes to improve the performance further. We confirm that the ITC-UWB-IR system using low rate Turbo codes improves the BER. Consequently, we comfirm that for the same bit rate, we had better make the code rate of Turbo codes lower and make the number of repetitions of the repetition codes smaller to achieve the better bit error rate (BER).
