Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have prepared a chiral unsymmetrical vanadyl phthalocyanine having one nitro and six (S)-2-methylbutoxy groups. A racemic analogue of this complex was also prepared by similar procedure. Both of the complexes were well soluble in organic solvents, and this allows us preparation of thin films using a spin-coating method. Spin-coated films prepared from a chloroform solution containing each of complexes and PMMA matrix exhibit the second harmonic activities after electric poling. Interestingly, the chiral complex showed larger second harmonic activity in refers to the racemic isomer. This difference is plausibly assigned to the molecular arrangements of each complexes in the polymer matrix.
