Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Soft polymer materials such as polymer gels are well known to deform in extreme manner by applying triggers of various kind. The triggers are not only physical ones like electric field, temperature change and so on, but also chemical triggers such as pH change, addition of particular substrates and etc. The deformation sometimes shows phase transition in polymer gels, which accompanies drastic volume change. These vast variation of triggers and variety of deformations are attractive from the view point of actuator, particularly from the view point of MEMS. In this report, the author will summarize the deformation of various type of deformation, and will also show some electrical deformation of soft polymer materials. |
