Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose streaming transmission of JPEG2000 image that control image quality degradation. RTP is widely used in real time transmission of the video in the internet. However, it is known that a packet loss will occur. JPEG2000 codestream is encoded by bitplane, so if upper bitplane data is lost image quality may degrade by decoding lower bitplane data. In the proposed method, we can control image quality degradation by omitting lower bitplane data in a codeblock unit. And we also propose RTP header extension so that the compatibility with the existing RTP is preserved. We show validity of the proposed method in the simulation using a still image.
