Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The satellite navigation system called GNSS (global navigation satellite system) is now being introduced for civil aviation, based on GPS (global positioning system) which is already used in the broad applications. Reliability is one of critical factors on introduction of GNSS, then the other onboard sensors can be used in addition to GNSS to improve reliability of the total navigation system. The authors have investigated the use of the barometric altimeter for augmentation of GNSS in the vertical direction. Because the measurements of barometric altimeters involve the error due to temporal and/or spatial variance of local atomospheric condition, we developed the correction method using the numerical weather prediction data provided by Japan Meteorological Agency. The result of flight experiment shows that the corrections are functional in the air.
