Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to provide broadband internet access to many developing countries in the world, a geostationary satellite ring network has been studied assuming high-speed cross links by laser communications. The result of a preliminary study of the laser cross link supporting a 120-Gbps throughput using 1.5-micron optical devices, such as Er-doped fiber amplifiers.
