Abstract(in English) VHP spectrum used in aircraft wireless communication is expected to become saturated due to the enormous increase in aircraft traffic. However, 5GHz frequency band assigned for aircraft radio navigation still hasn't been utilized for that purpose in Japan. Increased aircraft communication traffic combined with increased demand on data transmission, has enhanced the need of employing 5GHz frequency band to aircraft communication. This paper aims to investigate the possible utilization of 5GHz frequency band to data transmission in aircraft communication. To do this, we carried out some flight tests by using an experimental aircraft. Transmission characteristics under 5GHz frequency band have been investigated, and we considered the characteristics in this paper.
