Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Application of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to post-war areas humanitarian demining is studied. The GPR is a stepped frequency radar system operated in a wide frequency range of 30kHz-6GHz and is equipped with Vivaldi antenna which has a flat planar shape. The primary concern of mine detection GPR is the surface clutter noise. We investigated the effect of the geometrical antenna arrangement on the performance of GPR, and found that the surface clutter is relatively weaker in the case of coplanar antenna arrangement than in the case of parallel antenna arrangement therefore more discernible image of buried object is obtained.
