Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a radar remote-sensing technique to enhance its signal to noise ratio (SNR) by applying an M-sequence, that is one of the PN sequences, to a pulse compression of the radar. As a result of our computer simulation, the SNR of a 1.3 GHz-band Wind Profiler Radar (WPR) using this technique was much improved compared with that of the WPR using a conventional pulse compression. To confirm this result, we produced pseudo radar signals with the Doppler frequency shift corresponding to wind velocity by a numerical model, and estimated the SNR of the pseudo signals after practical analyses for a wind measurement. It is remarkable that the maximum height range for the wind measurement could reach approximately from two to three kilometers by using a low-power WPR with a peak transmission power of 300 W.
