An Estimation Method of the Coefficients of the Polarimetric Linear Prediction Model

Abstract(in English) Resolution of a radar is limited in range by its bandwidth. One of the various super-resolution techniques for improving its resolution is bandwidth extrapolation (BWE). The authors have extended the concept of BWE and have proposed an algorithm called polarimetric bandwidth extrapolation (PBWE) applicable to polarimetric radar data. The utilization of full polarization information allows PBWE to improve the resolution beyond the conventional BWE method. In this paper, a method of coefficint estimation, which we call P-Burg method, for PBWE is proposed. The method is an extension of well-known Burg method to the multivariate case and based on the mutivariate Levinson recursion. We also discuss, through numerical simulations, the precision of the super-resolved range profile obtained by P-Burg method.
