Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper provides the performance comparison between synchronous and asynchronous observation in tracking using two sensors. In literature, it has been pointed out that tracking filters, such as Kalman filter, can degrade its performance when the sampling period changes. This is often the case when one tries to use a single tracking filter with observation data from two or more radars operated independently. In this paper, we, first, show a simple Kalman filter tracking example with two radars, where the radar observation is synchronous and asynchronous. Then, to compare the performance of the above two cases analytically, we evaluate the noise reduction ratio and steady state error equation of α-β filter, and show that the performance of the above two cases varies depending upon the value of the filter process noise.
