Abstract(in English) | The conventional open-loop transmitter occupies a small chip area and achieves a small power consumption, while it cannot avoid the severe problem of carrier frequency drift. Recently we have investigated the 2-point modulation transmitter and as shown in this report, it suppresses the frequency drift effectively with small additional circuits. One drawback of the 2-point modulation is an additional quantum noise generated by a sigma-delta modulator and hence we must decrease the loop bandwidth to suppress the noise. Therefore, we have developed the loop-bandwidth switching method. That is, the large loop bandwidth is selected in the carrier-frequency locking period to achieve a fast settling, while the bandwidth is changed to a smaller value in the data-transmitting period. The details of the above were also verified by simulation. The discussions here can be applied to various FM-modulation wireless systems such as Bluetooth and GSM. |
