Abstract(in English) This paper presents a high-sensitivity CMOS image sensor using high-gain adaptive amplifiers at the column. Using the technique, the input referred random noise is suppressed when a high gain is adapted. The fixed pattern noise is greatly reduced by a column-based digital noise cancellation technique using a 14bit A/D converter and the adaptive gain amplifiers. The performance is compatible to the standard CCD image sensors.
