Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Embedded processors are increasingly being used in digital consumer appliances such as cellular phones, digital still/video cameras, and car navigation systems. They must therefore deliver high performance within a reasonable area and power consumption level, and be flexible to meet a wide range of requirements for various applications. However, only a few devices targeting large markets, such as cellular phones, can bear the cost of a special-purpose processor design. In this paper, I review the actuality and direction of the embedded processor requirements, and introduce our latest processor core SH-X.
