Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The cost reduction and miniaturization of optical receiver are essential to spread optical communication technology in short range data communications. In this study, a integrated optical receiver for POF optical network systems has been developed using standard 0.35μm CMOS process. The optical receiver integrates a photodiode, a transimpedance amplifier, a limiting amplifier and a buffer. The photodiode is formed by a N-well and stripe-shaped p-diffusions. The photodiode area is 150xl50μm, and the responsivity is 0.04A/W at a wavelength of 650nm. The large junction capacitance of the photodiode is a critical issue in CMOS process, so a RGC transimpedance amplifier was adopted to reduce input impedance of the circuit. And LC resonation was suppressed by circuit and package optimization. The chip was mounted in a small ceramic package, and the measured result shows that BER of 10^<-9> can be achieved at an average optical input power of -lOdBm at 600Mb/s, and -4.5dBm at 1Gb/s.
