Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Plasma display panel (POP) has gained much attention for a high definition TV, since it is flat, thin, and large-sized display module. Although, the POP has already been commercialized, the display performance is unsatisfactory and its lifetime is one of the main concerns. In order, to overcome this problem, theoretical understanding of the effects of charging and doping of impurities on MgO protective layer is desirable. Regarding these points, we investigated using the first-principles calculations based on the density functional theory (DFT) with cluster models. Further, as the first step of large-scale electronic structure calculations, we also used our original accelerated quantum chemical molecular dynamics code "Colors".
