Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes HMM-based speech synthesis with various speaking styles. Four speaking styles, namely. "politeness" , "rudeness" , "joyfulness" and "sorrow" are chosen, and 503 sentence sets for each speaking style uttered by one female and one male speakers were recorded as speech database. After adding acoustic-prosodic information, we modeled and synthesized the speech using HMM-based speech synthesis system. From the results of subjective tests, it is shown that the synthesized speech reflects the speaking styles of the recorded speech and is nearly as natural as "normal read speech".
