Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is useful for the perception of wider spatial information to extend a visual space by compressing a visual image. However, the compression of the visual image will result in the distortion of the sense of direction. To correct the distortion of the sense of direction, a sound image was added to conduct the target direction. In 33% compression ratio, the subjects were confused, when recognizing the target direction, by difference in direction between the visual and auditory targets. In 25% compression ratio, the subjects pointed their finger at auditory targets in lateral region of the direction more than 30 degrees from the front. IN conclusion, it was suggested that the sense of direction in a compressed visual space can be corrected by a sound image up to about 25% compression ratio.
