Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have reported the possible effect of ELF electrostimulation on the endocytic activity of a macrophage. In this study, we examined the existence of a humoral factor to control the function of a macrophage in the supernatant of lectrically stimulated macrophage siispension. It was found that the supernatant from stimulated cells suppressed and promoted the endocytic activity of PEM and J774.1 cells, respectively. These effects disappeared when the supernatant was heat-treated. These results suggest that a humoral factor is involved in the effect of electrostimulation on the endocytic activity of a macrophage and that the effective substance can be some protein, or cytokine.
