Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have measured movements of the shoulder joint using a motion capture system. This system measures the reflective markers attached to subject's skin above bony landmarks. The advantage of this non-invasive method is to be able to measure dynamic shoulder movement. The disadvantage is the skin mobility that allows the reflective markers to shift the bony landmarks. In order to reduce this problem, point-cluster method, which attached many markers on a body segment, has developed to estimate knee joint movement. However, there are no reports that apply point-cluster method to measure the shoulder joint. The purpose of this study is to compare the point cluster method and the conventional bony landmark method. We estimated the shoulder movement during humeral elevation on the scapular plane using aforementioned two methods. The result showed that the bony landmark method estimated the humeral internal/external rotation more accurately than the point-cluster method.
