Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper introduces the activities in the working group 11 of the IEEE 802 LMSC (LAN/MAN Standards Committee). At the end of the March 2003 meeting, the working group 11 has eight task groups, two standing committees and one study group. The task groups are working to extend the current IEEE 802.11 standards to have higher data rates and high functionalities such as QoS support and enhanced security mechanisms. While some task groups some years are going to finish their works, there are new activities in the IEEE 802.11. Three task groups, i. e. TGj, TGK, and TGm, have been created in this year and one more task group, TGn, is going to be formed. This paper reports the activities of the current task groups emphasizing the status of the TGj which standardizes Japanese 5GHz band wireless access systems and the high throughput study group which is going to be the TGn.
