Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Frequency mixing/conversion in microwave photonics is analyzed. One optical carrier carrying two microwave frequencies, the signal and local-oscillator frequencies, is detected by a photodiode. Two generated microwave sources are assumed to be expressed by two current sources in the microwave equivalent circuit. Two frequencies are mixed and two sidebands, the upper sideband and lower sideband, are generated. It is shown that the optimum load resistance, which gives the highest conversion efficiency, of the external circuit is higher than the case in traditional microwave frequency converters which are excited by two microwave voltage sources.
