Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study proposes the Multi-Layered Model of Language Materials and Tasks for Designing CALL of Academic reading in foreign language education. This Multi-Layered Model developed the overview of taxonomic substructures of the knowledge associated with work roles and academic reading (discourse) knowledge. The categorization of work roles included: l)instructional designer, 2)language course designer, 3)academic faculty, 4)tutor, and 5)language teacher. The academic reading (discourse) knowledge was divided into domain knowledge, discourse information, and intentional understanding. This model also indicated the effectiveness of drawing strategy to promote reading comprehension, which was investigated in the experimental environment. The results of experiments showed that drawing strategy was effective for the discrimination tasks rather than assimilation tasks in reading comprehension.
