| Abstract(in English) | We measured the characteristics of human memory. The experiment was as follows: 1) the subjects read a Japanese statements of about 230 words with figures for two minutes, 2) a group of subjects uses a page consists of statements and figures in left hand side, and the other group uses a page consists of the same statements and figures in the right hand side, 3) we measure how much the subjects remember the contents of the statements. Right-handing male students aged about twenty show the significant positive result on figures in the left hand side. Such group shows 13% improvement over the group that uses a page with figures in the right hand side. On the other hand we measured no significance over female students. We have found the co-relationships between the left-right layout and left-right alignment, space between figures and viewer's distance. We report that the major factors thlt make the left-right difference may be the viewer's custom of movement of viewpoints and the laterality of the cognitive functions. |
