Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Kanji is important in Japanese language learning. Kanji has very complex and profound informations, such as, construction of the shape, the radical, several kinds of reading, the stroke order and the origin as pictograph. We develop XML-based multimedia Kanji database for various aspects of Kanji. It contains shape structures with partial shape elements and allocation codes. We also prepare multimedia data of handwritten standard model letters. It contains the stroke order and dynamic pen-tracing data. To combine both, we propose displaying material letters with some decoration of the shape. For example, we offer emphasis of the radical, animation of writing, stroke order of partial shape elements, pen-touch by changing thichness of stroke lines. The displaying material letters are efficient for understanding the Kanji shape and handwriting exercises. We use SVG data for combination and decoration. Then it can be used in Web environment. |
