Abstract(in English) | During the collaborative learning through the web, students are sometimes not able to attain to their common learning goal because the learning group may consist of students whose understanding levels are different with each other. In order to cope with such a situation, we have introduced a teacher agent into our collaborative learning mechanism, which is called Coordinator. Coordinator grasps the learning situation of group and generates advices so as to make the collaborative learning effective. Students acquire the knowledge effectively by exchanging their opinions through discussion, so Coordinator needs to promote the active discussion for various answering viewpoints as well as to lead the learning group to the answer of exercise. In this paper, we focus on mathematical exercises. In such exercises, students tend to draw diagrams complementarity when they are tackling to the exercises. The diagram makes students understand the current learning situation and gives hints for the answer. For the purpose of supporting the learning group effectively, our objective is to construct the coordinator's advising mechanism of providing appropriate diagram. First, we describe the effectiveness of showing diagrams for the collaborative learning based on Watanabe's knowledge handling model. In order to propose the diagram which is appropriate for the learning situation, Coordinator should understand the diagrams of learning group and generate the diagram automatically based on it. We also explain the mechanism for constructing the diagram dynamically according to the learning group's diagram: the conceptual model which is the representation of the diagram from a viewpoint of the constructs and their relationships; and the figure generation rule which is the rule for adding the aporopriate figures to the learning group's diagram. |
