Error Compensation Method on Liquid Material's Complex Permittivity Measurement Using a Rectangular Waveguide and a Dielectric Tube

Abstract(in English) We have already proposed a measuring method using a rectangular waveguide and a dielectric tube. This method can perform absolute measurement and a continuous monitoring of complex permittivity of liquid phantom material. In this report we study the error compesation method which removes the influence of through hole of dielectric tube to make our method more practical. For the error compesation for dielectric-metal-joint tube, we introduce cylindrical wave reflection coefficiet. First, we compare the measurements of the relative complex permittivity for deionized water at frequencies 2.5GHz-4.1 GHz using two tubes. One is joined-with-metal tube, and the other is metal-capped tube. Then, we apply the error compesation method to measurements of the joined-with-metal tube. The result after error compesation shows that both the real and imaginary parts of relative complex permittivity become higher and closer to the measurment result with metal-capped tube.
