Abstract(in English) | A free space method is widely used for evaluation of electromagnetic wave absorbers. In this report, influences of the curvature of a conductor plate used as a reference in free space method is considered by both experiments and theoretical computations. First, two iron plates which has two kinds of thicknesses are used as a reflection plate, and it is observed that the reflection coefficient varies as much as 3dB by changing the arrangement direction and the side of the plate. Next, the surface height distribution of the iron plates are measured by laser distance meter. An iron plate which has convex surface with around 3mm height deviation is found to produce the biggest change of a reflection coefficient. Therefore, it is highly supposed that the incident wave is scattered by the surface of the iron plate. Next, a numerical simulation of the free space method is performed using physical optics approximation method in consideration of the curvature of the iron plae. By this theoretical calculation, it is also confirmed that a reflection coefficient changed according to the arrangement of the iron plate. Moreover, by numerical calculation, it is examined how the radiation pattern of a reflecteced wave is affected by the size of the flat iron board, as well as the distance between the reception point and the plate. Finally, an equivalent surface current of physical optics approximation that is excited on the iron plate is calculated, and a difference from ideal plane wave, as well as the peak position shift, is observed. |
