Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, Wireless LAN systems in the 2.4GHz band are becoming widespread. However, this frequency band is allocated to ISM (Industrial, Scientific, Medical) equipment. Hence, WLAN systems may suffer from interference caused by the electromagnetic noises of ISM equipment, especially microwave ovens. In this report, the use of adaptive filters is studied in order to suppress the microwave oven interference in DS-SS (Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum) WLAN systems by using the fact that an oven noise has CW-like characteristics. The results of numerical simulations clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of adaptive filters to suppress the oven noises. Great improvement in BER performance can be obtained in the presence of transformer-type microwave oven noises. As for inverter-type microwave oven noises, which has much faster frequency variation than transformer type, the noise can be successfullv suppressed bv optimizing the number of filter taps.
