Abstract(in English) Transient electromagnetic fields caused by electrostatic discharge (ESD) are known to cause serious failure to high-tech information devices. From this perspective, an international standard for ESD testing, or IEC 61000-4-2 has been specified, in which a detailed waveform of the discharge current injected by an ESD-gun is prescribed, and a calibration target (Pellegrini target) for transferring the current waveform to a voltage waveform observed in an oscilloscope is required. However, the relationship between the discharge current and observed voltage at high frequencies remains unclear due to the presence of some parasitic components that the target has. In this study, two measuring methods of target transfer impedance have been proposed in order to derive the quantitative relation between the discharge current and observed voltage in a wide frequency range. Via the two measuring methods, the transfer impedance has been validated to have a real part of 1Ω and an imaginary part of 0Ω below 1 GHz, and the discharge waveform derived from the observed voltage by using the transfer impedance has been shown to be identical roughly to the FDTD simulations.
