Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In digital watermarking systems, it is important to embed a watermark signal into digital media in a less visible way as well as to extract it correctly with high probabilities even though the media is subjected to many kinds of operations. To this end, a guided scrambling (GS) technique, usually used for a recording channel, is applied to a digital watermarking system. A simple GS scheme can make the power of a watermark signal larger against the power of media under the condition of keeping perceptual fidelity, resulting in the lower error probability of extracted watermark bits. In addition, a watermark embedder based on the GS can have more robustness against some operations if it has knowledge of the prior information on the operations. The JPEG compression is a good example of such a operation when a still image is transmitted over the internet. The watermarking embedder having a knowledge of JPEG compression is realized in order to be more robust against the known JPEG attack. Moreover the GS concatenated with a turbo code is introduced to lowe the bit error rate more.
