Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Widely used modulation schemes have their own names, and are classified as different types of modulations. They usually have a small number of degrees of freedom or parameters to be optimized. However, these optimizations are in general scheme-dedicated. In this paper a general modulation model is proposed to identify the widely used modulation schemes. Based on this general framework, optimum schemes for non-Gaussian channels under a given set of constraints can be derived. In general, only a local optimum can be considered to keep the optimization problem feasible. For software radios, the modulation should be changed by tracking this local optimum. The proposed model is based on orthonormal vectors, which are obtained by multidimensional rotations. Almost all known modulation schemes can be expressed by this model, and can be optimized against non-Gaussian channel impairments, for example, intersymbol interference, continuous wave interference or impulse interference. Several widely used modulation schemes are renamed by their consecutive multidimensional rotation angles based on the general model proposed. Local optimum examples in non-Gaussian channels are then given to illustrate the use of this model.
