| Abstract(in English) | Progressive transmission of vector quantized images over noisy channels is presented from the viewpoint of a total communication system including source coding and transmission over various channels. The progressive transmission is realized by codebook organization of vector quantizer and transmission of a vector quantized image sequentially from its MSB plane. Furthermore, channel error is considered for the codebook organization to improve performance of transmission over noisy channels and deterministic annealing is applied for optimization purposes. These methods are evaluated by simulation using real vector quantized images. |
