Abstract(in English) | It is well-known that TCP congestion control causes multifractal nature of traffic volume. In our previous study, we investigated what component of the congestion control dominates the multifractal nature and showed that Retransmission Time Out (RTO) plays an important role to generate the multifractal nature. In this article, we investigate the effect of Random Early Detection (RED) mechanism on the multifractal nature of TCP traffic. RED mechanim can reduce expirations of retransmission timer as compared with drop-tail mechanism because RED can stabilize queue length of a router. Computer simulation results show that RED can improve the multifractal nature. |
